This is a curt list of my favorite ‘personal’ tumblrs. Please don’t be offended if you’re not on it:
I’m trying to connect the dots as to why I like these most. I think they all balance a variety of posts and a mix of super-personal interesting tidbits and things with slightly more mass appeal. Almost all of them are creative people who like doing stuff!
And they all have categorical things that make their blogs interesting. inky is deluged in internet culture and his crazy droning music. I’m not one for it, but it’s neat to see someone so interested.
I like Eric’s blog because he posts funny accounts and things I can relate to as a student. And interesting artwork.
Kristen is just pretty awesome. I like that she shares what her friends are up to, and of course I like the stuff she works on too.
Brandon listens to great music and I think he and I share a lot of values. He posts a genuinely interesting medley of everything in his life, and it’s interesting.
Kevs is the king of the funny personal account. He seems to have an acute memory and way of telling his stories so that they’re especially poignant. Plus he likes LEGO!
Justin probably thinks I’m creepy because I “like” every single song he posts. I think he posts some of the best music and also shares, on occasion, his excellent photography and hints at the interesting work he does.
And Guy posts interesting media and real stories about his life and being a father. His blog feels fully honest, I think, and I like that.
So what can I learn from this? Lemme mull it over.
